Wow, if you didn't get to come to our Buckle Series you missed a lot of fun and excitement. Leads changed constantly and you never knew from day to day who was going to take that buckle. In the AAA division alone there were numerous changes and then when two riders bumped up to AAA+ the race was on for real. Diane Williamson's horse, Whiskey, ran a supreme time in Barrels and a plus time in Speed Barrels the final day to steal the buckle away from Lisa Bradley and Her terms. Everyone was screaming for both riders and it was pretty darned exciting.
Ponies were just about as wild when Amanda Martin's Super Ricochet decided to either run backwards or just on his hind legs. K. C. Morgan's little speed bump, Gidget, just couldn't quite catch all those good times Amanda's bigger pony ran but she and K. C. gave it all they had and made it very exciting. K. C. was a real trooper and a good sport about it all.
When Diane and Lisa both bumped up to AAA+ the field in AAA opened up and there were some pretty surprised faces when Alexis McGrede, who thought she was in third place, won the buckle and Jeanne Dudak, who thought she was in 5th, took the reserve prize. There was lots of squealing going on.
I sneaked off with the AA buckle with Kelly Pearson and Dinky battling it out with Michelle Littlejohn and Duchess. Kelly took reserve by only 3 points when Duchess caught fire and ran a couple of AAA times coming in third. Michelle was pretty proud of her anyway. There were only a few points between 2nd place and 5th with Kelly Crofoot and Keith Morgan running hot and heavy.
Becky Carroll's Bella ran steady A times and walked off with the Buckle but 2nd to 4th were only separated by 14 points with Tiffani Shiro, Joyce Driggers and Hannah Stewart battling it out for Reserve. Tiffany pulled it out while Katie Morgan's new horse, Rikki Bobbie ran a very close 5th.
Tristan DeWitt ran off with the FC 12 and under buckle but tiny little Joshlynn Odom and Taylor were always a threat and you've never seen anybody as excited as Joshlynn's grandma when Joshlynn won reserve. Paula Williams and Blondie fought off a threat by Laura Allemand for the Reserve prize in FC 13 and over and if you think she was excited before you should have seen Grandma Becky Graham when she was awarded the Buckle. Great job Becky riding your horse, tending your little grand daughter and then cooking us all our lunch. You really are a winner.
We had wonderful help both in the arena and in the two booths. Every time we asked for help there were lots of willing hands jumping in. I couldn't possibly name everyone but some of those of you I saw the most were Bill and Marce Stewart, Cindy Williamson, Alexis McGrede, Roxy Gatley, Bob Carroll, Will Melrose, Jennifer Jackson, Lisa Harp, Cheryl Morgan, Renee Templeton, Kelly Croffoot and lo and behold there was Denise McAdam out there in the arena. Thanks for coming, Denise, it was great to see you again. And there was Karen Schauer and Badger. Haven't seen you two in a year, welcome back.
It was a great season and all of us on the board really appreciate all the help we get and the great attitudes all of you riders and parents display. You make this work worth while.
